How the club started

It started with a group of pupils from the Eco group. We enjoyed planting bulbs around the school to improve our own environment in the spring and asked a simple question: "Why can't we have some raised beds and just plant some vegetables?"

Miss Swallow agreed to find out if we could get some raised beds and very quickly it was decided that we would meet to plan things and get started. We now meet every Wednesday lunchtime and new members are welcome.

  2. Glad to see this, Miss Swallow ...
I made my raised beds from stock treated 2 × 12's, with butted corners and big ol' lagbolts, using a glob of polyurethane glue, especially down the bolt holes. The wood was wet, so the stuff set up like concrete in a trice ... well, maybe 2 trices. Flowers only, for those ... the wood was treated and I was afraid of poisons leaching into the soil.
Looks like you've done an excellent job. Best of luck!
