Earthing up Potatoes

This week we topped up the competition potato bags - all 23 of them!

It is still early days, but the plants are starting to take off now.

We photographed each one, and visited classes last lesson on Thursday for pupils to take guesses at which they thought would win!  We raised just over £20 towards our goal of £50 for the Highland Hospice, in memory of Lewis's grandmother.
Here are just a few samples - which do you think look the most productive so far?!
If online viewers are interested, I could post all 23 for you to take a guess!  You could donate via the justgiving.com/diggers page and we could enter your name if you post a comment to say which you think will be the most productive plant!  Leave a comment if you'd like me to do that.
Feel free to make a small donation anyway if you'd like to help us reach our target!
Also this week, Connorhan helped to fix another shelf in the shed as it was becoming quite messy!
This will help us keep a bit tidier.
On Wednesday, we set out some straw bales in preparation for our Summer Garden Party.
We dug the ground away to try and level them (still more to do)...
...we then placed some covered wood on top to make a seat and help keep the straw dry!
"Mmm, that's comfy!"
Meanwhile, Lewis and Catriona started to tackle last years potato plot which has become very weedy.  Hard work, as the soil is baked hard and dry at the moment as we have had such good weather!
